In 2011 the Blue Jays Lacrosse program started as a “skills focused” program designed to supplement the team training that most of our athletes were playing.
For athletes looking to develop their individual skill levels, team practice and training can actually hurt their development as they stand on the sidelines.
As a coach I want to see athletes working on skills with ball in stick as much as possible. And having the ball in your stick and working on dodging, shooting, defensive positioning, etc. is the key to performance in the sport of lacrosse.
In our sessions athletes shoot and dodge and work harder than they will in ever team practice. Many of our athletes report using techniques and skills they learn in our practices to great success with their teams, and beyond.
The 2015 Spring Skills Academy will run on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7:30-8:30 in McKenzie starting on May 5 and running to June 18th.
As interest is high, if these times and dates do not work for you, please contact Coach Edwards to see if he won’t mind adding additional dates to accommodate your athlete. As alway, if you are able to help invite additional athletes to help add additional sessions, that would be appreciated.
